FY 2021 Educational Facilities Master Plan
Future Facility Needs
PROJECTED ENROLLMENTS (see the Enrollments & Capacity section for a full analysis) Immediate Projected Enrollment Needs: To be handled with portables
1. Prince Street Elementary - Senior Leadership will investigate potential enrollment balancing based upon projected enrollments for the 2021 school year. Forecasted Projected Enrollment Needs: If handled with portables 1. High school capacity remains a concern, especially as ELL students return to their home schools and continues to be monitored. The enrollment bubble that is making its way into the middle schools will reach the high schools in 2021/22. 2. At this time, the biggest impact appears to be at Parkside High School . To address the future overcrowding, classrooms shall be dedicated within the adjacent Schumaker Complex for Parkside use. 3. Wicomico High School enrollments should be monitored closely as the ELL population returns to their home school and possible program (Interactive Media, VPA, etc.) increases are evaluated. If handled by brick and mortar addition 1. N/A at this time. If handled by enrollment balancing 1. N/A at this time.
*Note: The following schools were identified in the enrollments section of the EFMP as needing solutions but are not addressed above (see reason below). 1. Beaver Run - A replacement school will be constructed with a higher SRC. The current schedule has the new school opening for the 2022/23 school year. 2. Delmar - Due to the Bi-State Agreement it was decided by the WCBOE that a limited renovation would be undertaken and that capacity would be revisited at a later date.
